This is the season of Jewish remembrance. On Pesach (March 27) we vow never
to forget our common history and Yom Hashoah (April 7) marks the beginning of the Warsaw Ghetto
Uprising of 1943, when Jewish resistance fighters defied the Nazis and fought for freedom and
dignity. What follows here is adapted from a lecture I gave on October 30, 2014 at The Learning
Collaborative in Orangeburg, NY.
